Pondicherry - A Bit of France in India

Pondicherry, Union Territory of Pondicherry, India
Pondicherry was France's colony on the Indian subcontinent until 1954 when it was ceded to independent India. Most of Pondicherry is like other bustling middle-sized Indian cities, but there's still a nice French Quarter of colonial architecture, quiet streets lined with guest houses, French cuisine, churches, and beaches. It was a pleasant place to wander around for a day and eat some quite good French food after having had mostly Indian meals for weeks.
