For Seasons in One Day

London, London, City of, United Kingdom
The morning started off quite mild (7) so we didn't take coats but I donned my sheepskin hat and scarf and Graeme took his beanie. By the time we had arrived only one station from Victoria the weather had totally changed. It started drizzling and within 20 minutes had changed to horizontal freezing rain. We huddled under the hot chocolate stand in the park and by the time our guide arrived for our Westminster walk the rain had eased off so we started down the pathway to Buckingham Palace the rain had started again. We spent some time watching the horse guard and then a streak of lightning and a resounding clap of thunder sent us scurrying back to the station with sleet falling on our clothes. We caught the train back to Victoria and hurried back to our room, changed our wet clothes, took our coats and went back out. We caught the train to Westminster and walked to the Churchill War Rooms. We spent about an hour underground looking at all the rooms used during WW2 and then headed out into sunshine! Go figure!!

Back onto the trains to Tower Hill Station and walked down to the Tower of London (not on the list this time) and went down to the pier and caught the city cruise boat for a lovely hour and a half with high tea . Scones, jam, clotted cream, sandwiches and a selection of beautiful little cakes. We staggered back to the room through the underground trains.

An altogether full on day. My fitbit registered 16800 steps. Graeme did really well and he seems to be enjoying himself :)
