Fenelon Falls to Lovesick Lake Lock 30

Burleigh Falls, Ontario, Canada
We departed Fenelon Falls through the first lockage at 9AM in the cool rain. The rain lightened to a drizzle, then a mist for most of the day. High temp was just past 60.

Another boat we had been traveling with, the "Heart Tug" was stopping at Bobcaygeon but we wanted to put in more than 15 miles so we continued on to Lovesick lock 30. This is one of the most remote and scenic locks in the system. There are no roads to the lock and even the lockmasters must travel here by boat.

On our way here we locked through at Buckhorn lock 31. As we were tieing up we noticed a dog on shore that looked a lot like Charlie. It WAS Charlie! He had seen some other dogs and lept from the boat to shore before we were against the lock wall and without us noticing. Needless to say he was in the doghouse for that stunt.

At Lovesick I caught the first fish of the trip. This one was pardoned, but I later caught two more sunfish which were sacrificed for a meagre evening snack. Charlie was facinated by the fish swimming in the bucket. There may be more to fishing than we thought.

We're past the halfway mark of the Trent Severn Waterway and we’ve traveled 375 miles so far.
