Hastings to Percy Reach Lock 8

This is our lockey day! Ten locks today. We could have done more but we have been locking through with a solar powered boat named "Ra" that only goes about 4 mph tops. It was on a solar loop quest but got to a point on the Trent Severn Waterway that it realized that they couldn't go any farther without crossing the Great Lakes in October. So they turned around and are headed back to Florida where they started, a good decision in our opinion since the craft is so slow and doesn’t appear very seaworthy. And since one of the stretches of locks we were going through were operated by the same crew (when we would lock through they would hop in their truck and meet us at the next lock), no mater how far ahead we could get, we had to wait for the solar boat to catch up. They will probably be a hinderance for us tomorrow as well as we try to get to the end of the waterway.

We are currently moored at the lower side of Percy Reach lock #8 in a beautiful park-like setting. So we have 7 more to go until we reach Trenton. From there we plan to cross the Bay of Quinte to the Thousand Islands where we will cross to the American side and visit Clayton, New York, a ninety mile leg that we will probably break in two.

By the way, we've meandered over 500 miles by today!
