Ottawa Day 4

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Day 4 in Ottawa and we were able to get a tour inside the Parliament building. Parliament is comparable to the U.S. Capital. Besides talking about the architecture, the tour guide gave a rundown on the Canadian style of governance which is similar to the American style. There are two chambers corresponding to our House of Representatives and Senate. Except in Canada the Senate is appointed rather than elected. The Queen of England is the Head of State. She is represented in Canada by the Governor General. The Prime Minister of Canada is like our President. That is the extent of your Canadian civics lesson for today.

After the tour we went to lunch at the Mill Street Brew Pub located in a 140 year old former grist mill. Food and beer both good.

We meandered back to the boat along the Ottawa River and later barbequed some pork chops and apples for dinner. Food and beer both good.

Tomorrow morning we go down through the 8 flight locks to the Ottawa River towards Montreal. We'll have one or two stops along the way. Stay tuned!
