The feeling doesn't last very long though. the gorge comes to an end and there's a road which he assumes will take him to the Ararat Valley.

He trudges along, mile after mile . It turns out Mt Ararat only looked close. It looks like this is going to be an all day hike, through an arid landscape and blistering sun. But there's no turning back now. Just ration your water, and keep moving.

Finally after looping past a large reservoir, he reaches the farming village of Lanjazat, with the welcoming signs of civization: trees, farms... homes... even a school.

"I've done it. I blazed my own trail to the Ararat Valley" he tells himself proudly.
