1396. A Beautiful Panoramic View

Tazleft, Souss-Massa-Drâa, Morocco
Day 162
2 hrs, 3 .0 kms

The next day I have two objectives in opposite directions: one is to hike up this river valley a bit further, even though I know I’m not going to be able to reach the end of this "Valley Civilization" on this trip… the other is head back to the main highway all hike to Ouarzazate, thus creating a Superhike. I decide to continue on forward for as long as I dare, than catch some sort of transportation back.

But first things first: I head back to Timdakhte to take some picture of the kasbah ruins, the view of the valley, and of the kasbah-turned-hotel. Then I continue on down the road.

The weather is pleasantly cool with overcast skies. Up around a bend I’m greeted by a beautiful view: a vast, lush oasis valley with several villages dotting its perimeter. I pause a bit here to soak it in—I just don’t get tired of these panoramic views… these beautiful desert river civilizations… to be able to safely hike for miles and miles with beautiful surprises around each corner. My first thought is… How more of these Desert Valley Civilizations are there here in Morocco? I want to hike all of them!

I reminisce each river valley I’ve followed: the Draa River… the Dades Valley… the Souss River… Akchour River—all Superhikes where I walked for over 100 kilometers, never getting tired of them… I love this country…
