There's a whole string of villages up ahead, as the road follows the north shore of Lake Enriquillo. Actually, when planning this trip, these villages caught my eye and I thought this might be a good area to do a 100 km "Superhike". Now that I'm here there's another reason why this would make a good hike: the road is lined with trees and shady for much of the way!

I am tempted to get off the wa wa and start walking... but... I remember that my first priority right now is Haiti, and I don't think I want to postpone that any longer.

I get off at the next town, where I'm joined by a couple of kids. "De donde eres?" a chubby girl on a run down bicycle asks

"Estados Unidos"

"No... I mean... what state? Conneticut? New Jersey?.... I'm going to spend the summer with my relatives in New Jersey next summer"
