Concepción de la Vega, La Vega, Dominican Republic
Day 3-039
6 hrs, 1 km
Day Totals: 10 hrs, 1 .9 kms

La Vega has an unusual cathedral, a hulking concrete structure that looks more like a prison-castle to me. But I ask the locals what they think of it and they say it's beautiful...

A middle age woman and a teenage girl seem interested in chatting. The lady works for the government in the department of agriculture, and she's the first Dominican who has a positive outlook on the state of the country, says the economy is doing well and progressing. I wonder if the fact that she works for the government might have something to do with this point of view...

The teenage girl is actually from Madrid, Spain and has come here to live. She says she likes living here, although she admits that she misses being able to walk around safely any time of night or day...

Walking through La Vega, I'm feeling more and more woozy... feels like I've got a fever now as well. Haven't felt this bad while traveling since Egypt in 2011. It's reaching the point in which I'm not fully aware of my surrounding... kind of a dangerous state of mind to be in. I hail a motorcycle taxi and head to the wa-wa station to go to the next town.
