1820. Apple Capital

Saturday, January 25, 2014
Biglerville, Pennsylvania, United States
Day 312
4 hrs, 7 .2 kms
Day Totals: 12 hrs, 22.8 kms

Next I head east just a couple of miles to Biglerville, where it becomes even more evident that this is apple country--there's even a "National Apple Museum". Almost as big as the town itself is what looks like a big apple processing plant. I see a number of Latinos (haven't seen many in other small towns in the county) so I'm guessing orchard work is a draw here for immigrant labour. I imagine this place must really be hopping during harvest time.

I don't really feel like putting on a lot of miles today. I've got a lot of stuff going through my head right now, and it seems like, sitting on a comfortable chair at Subway, staring out at the street is a good way to sort things out.

I'd really rather eat something original on my hikes rather than some fast food chain... but I'm on a tight budget, and Subway's 2.50 $ sub is hard to pass up.
