Post-visit: Remembering Nathan's Bar

Enola, Pennsylvania, United States
2 hrs, 6 kms

Crossing the mighty Interstate 81, I can catch a glimpse of the Harrisburg skyline way off across the river . Looking forward to exploring that city--but first I need to soak in what's called the "West Shore"--the more well to do suburbs on this side of the river.

Not much of a view on this side, with a bunch of rail lines running between the highway and the river. the village of Enola does have river access where I can take my "Harrisburg from across the river" photos... Not much else going on here.

I actually did a a parkbench session here back in 2007. Basically I just got out of the car, walked around the block, sat by the river and played some songs and left... Parkbenching was way too easy back then.

There is a bar here (named "Nathan's"!) that I come back to at another time to jam at an Open Mike. It's here that I realize that my set really isn't going to work with the bar crowd. One of the other musicians puts it bluntly, "You've got some nice originals... but if you want to please the bar crowd, you've got to play Lynard Skynard."

Maybe I will... or maybe I'll just stick to coffeehouses.
