1915 Town vs Village

Victoria, Saint Mark, Grenada
3 hrs, 2 kms

I reach the border of St Mark's parish--parishes are like the provinces of Grenada, all with generic British names . Unlike in the U.S., the Caribbean countries didn't try to name their towns and provinces after the locations of the original inhabitants. There are still a lot of Anglican churches, but now Grenada has the full spectrum of Christian denominations--with 7th Day Adventist being one of the most prevalent it seems.

The capital of St Mark's is Victoria, my second full sized town of this day. I must admit though that I prefer villages to towns here in the Caribbean. In the villages it seems people put more work into making their houses and gardens charming and unique. In the towns people don't seem to care as much and a lot of the houses look pretty run down.

I do find a shop that sells flip flops, which I need. I'm qouted a price and try to negotiate down a bit.

The fellow gives me a funny look, "usually the price goes up for white people," He tells me.
