Cresson, finally has a "full sized town" feel to it, with a couple of places to eat and shop. I stop in for a couple pizza slices at a popular joint across from the railroad tracks.

I kind of expected just the typical "red state" mountain Pennsylvanians with a very limited world view. But no... I end up chatting a bit with an on older lady who, when she hears of my travels, says "Oh--people who criticize what you do are just jealous because you're doing the things they wished they could do. I went hitchhiking cross country when I was 17... met wonderful people along the way--as well as horrible people"...

A black fellow strikes up a conversation as well. He's a chaplain at the hospital and is actually from Haiti... so I get to practice my French for about 15 minutes or so...

Finally, as daylight fades, I head to a park bench facing the train tracks. Finally I can relax and enjoy my park bench concert instead of hurrying through it... thinking about all the ups and downs of this fascinating day.
