1877 Across the River

Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania, United States
Day 348
2 hrs, 2 hrs

From here it would be a short hike down the river to Johnstown . This was the original plan. But something has been urging the Traveler to continue farther west... and then eventually loop back to this area once again. He is more and more intrigue by the what happens in a society and economy when industry declines. Something that is going to happen everywhere eventually.... Perhaps this region has some clues into the future of the planet.

So he decides he's going to continue on west--at least as far as the Great Steel Capital: Pittsburgh. And for that, he should head north, where the former railway lines have been turned into pedestrian and cycling trail. After weeks of walking along roads, a trail sounds really nice.

So north he goes, with a quick stop in the village of Ehrenfeld across the river. Johnstown will have to wait until the way back.
