Chaweng Noi Beach, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand

Koh Samui baby ...

I really enjoyed my hostel in Sural Thani and the local night markets etc. it's a nice feel to it and I'm glad the staff at the hotel have no problem with me leaving my bike for a couple of days. I arranged to leave for Koh Samui usng the local bus to the ferry port, buying both bus and ferry ticket at the same time and set off first thing in the morning so I would arrive at Chaweng Noi Beach. It's all a bit of a tourist trap heading here and being on an Island, anything you want is that bit more expensive but it's only for a couple of days.

The journey over was nice with great views and new friends with an Australian couple I met on board, on docking we all jumped the local song thew at a fixed price of 100 Baht to the beach area, although this is fairly dear, there's no way around it... mmm, missing my bike already I think, I would just have jumped off and started pedaling!

The beaches are lovely though but completely full of tourists and all types of water sports careering about the place, I have been so spoiled on the way that I'm glad of my 'one offs', most people haven't even heard of the places I've ended up! I stay in a local hostel but the girls that have stayed have only been for one night then away again, no-one seems to stay here for long I think .

Although I should have went round the island exploring, I just wasn't prepared to pay a fortune to do it, but its nice just hanging out at the beach, having a beer and some nice food and company before returning to the mainland.
I met some lovely people in one of the Irish Bars who offered to get anything I needed sent home for me, but all my gear is back on the mainland... typical.

It really is more of a tourist resort with plenty of shopping, restaurants, pubs etc but the views out to sea are lovely and relaxing. On my return to the ferry terminal I decided to go by motorbike taxi which was great fun... I'm such a petrol head and so glad my accident didn't put me off.

Here's a few photos, but some of the water sports I've never seen before.
