I returned to Bukit Lawang from Banda Ache as I had left my bike there, and I wanted to stay longer in the jungle . I've made some fantastic friends here and I love living in the jungle strangely enough, it's a beautiful place next to the Bohorok River.Once again I meet up with great local friends who take me around villages and local houses and it truly is a whole different experience than being a tourist and hanging out with other westerners. I've a couple of friends that are keen for me to stay and even go to the extent of taking me round plots of land that are for sale that I could build a house on and live in Bukit Lawang. Although I love it, I've too much traveling to do so it's not even remotely an option for me in my stubborn head.While I'm here I just hang out with friends and I'm fortunate enough to be invited for dinner, or BBQ down by the river which I love. The people here really are lovely and I'm always impressed by their language skills, many here have never been to school and are self taught learning different languages from the tourist who visit and the many that settle here. Strangely enough many of the local men are married to women from Holland but I guess it was a colony for a long period of time .The scenery is stunning with the paddy fields, a backdrop of the mountains, the rivers and of course the jungle. I love traveling around by motorbike and love getting waves and greeting from the local people working in the fields. Even at the local shops when you stop in for water, you getting surrounded by kids all chatting away in the the English they have learned and I enjoy getting some pictures with them.I helped out in one of the English schools here which was basically 6 posts with a roof on top made from palm and banana leaves and a couple of basic benches with a white board. It's a really interesting experience and I was asked along by a local friend because I had been here so long with no immediate plans to leave so I might as well give something back for all their kindness and friendship.So it's been a really enjoyable time here but I need to leave because of my visa but furthermore I have no pages left in my passport for a new visa, so I've decided to go back to Malaysia as I can get 3 months on entry and I have enough space to squeeze a few stamps in but not for a full page Indonesian visa which I require .Once I decided to go I got a really kind offer from my friend Drew who I met in Langkawi the previous year, he owns a beautiful yacht and is planning on sailing from Phuket in Thailand back down to Langkawi in Malaysia which is where I had planned on heading to apply for a new passport. I really can't believe my luck... I've never been sailing before never mind starting on a 47 ft Vagabond which is a cutter ketch. So I've arranged by flights back to Penang and I'll bus up to Phuket to start a whole new adventure.Let's see where this one takes me, I can't wait, and definitely can't believe how lucky I am. Woohoo here's to a whole different experience, I never thought I would ever get the opportunity to go sailing on this trip, I certainly must have done something right at some point so here goes.Going sailing.... going sailing...
