Railay Beach, Krabi Province, Thailand

Drew and I decided to head to Krabi for a few days to get away from working on the boat and for a bit of chill time, we've been hard at it so time for a break . From Langkawi we arrange the ferry and bus which saves us any hassle getting to the bus station when we arrive in Thailand. It's an easy enough journey although it takes a bit of time, once at Krabi we jump a tuktuk down to the town and manage to find a cheap room for the night. It wasn't an exciting night in Krabi, a quick bite to eat and a couple beers then back to the digs, but in the morning we went round a beautiful white temple in the town. We caught a local bus down to Ao nang and found a cheap room for the night, it's a beautiful place but our plan is to get out to Railey Beach next morning. We had a fun night in a bar complex just people watching but at one point around 20 lady boys came in to mingle with the crowds, fully dressed up in feathers, stunning outfits, wigs, makeup, the works. The were posing for photographs before they set off upstairs to do their show but we didn't venture up.We checked out in the morning and caught a longtail boat to Railey Beach which isn't a long trip by boat but it is inaccessible by road . Where the boat drops you off on the beach it's full of the top resorts which are very expensive so we walk through to the other side of the island and find a great air con room for 700tbh which was great. We're only a five minute walk from the sea and although not much of a beach at this part there is a walking street full of entertainment. It's a great few days and we explore other beaches we can walk to, some of them stunning, incredible limestone with caves, temples, overhanging limestone and full of long tails. We have excellent food in the local places and enjoy music at night and hanging out with other tourists and locals alike. We headed over to Tonsai beach for the day which was fab, as soon as I got onto the beach though I saw a familiar face, it was friends from Tioman Islands... I couldn't believe it Slcl, he's here doing his climbing and have very cheap rooms at only 100tbh, he told me Jenny was here too and showed us a route to walk round the village and back to the beach. On our walk round we bumped into Jenny which was so lucky, I was delighted to see them again, we arranged to meet at the bar at the end of the beach after our walk which we did . On our walk around the beach a storm was brewing, Drew and I were watching it coming in, really dark cloud rolling in with thunder and lightening. We spotted someone on top of one of the cliffs and were wondering what he was up to, by the time we reached the bar this guy base jumped off the cliff and landed on the beach in front of us, we couldn't believe it! We stayed for a while and caught up with Slcl and Jenny before heading back, we had to wait on the tide being out so we could walk round the rocks. So a last couple of beers on the beach before we headed back, unfortunately we booked a return trip and needless to say by this point we would easily have stayed longer. Oh well next time, I'll definitely come back to Railey and Tonsai from Ao nang... really breathtaking views which were a bit overwhelming to be honest. So back to the boat and Langkawi we go...
