Satun, Thailand

I caught the ferry from Kuah to Satun where Jamie and Julie came to pick me up, it's lovely going back to the shipyard to see them and Thea and see how she's looking .They very kindly let me stay on board in one of their cabins, the boat really is a home from home, full of character and really stunning. Jamie and Julie are extremely generous and kind to me, looking after me, making meals, sharing drinks and strangely enough it feels like visiting family. The work on the boat is going well but I know they are keen to get her launched again and get out of the shipyard. I love the buzz of the shipyard, watching the boats being hauled out, worked on and put in again, it's a real hive of activity and the staff that work here are really nice and hard workers. We head into Satun for lunch at 'On's Place' which does great food, plus local fish restaurants which are fab, plus a bit of shopping etc. but spend most of our time on the boat and helping out with new boats which are coming in.Jamie is a great cook and every night makes up delicious home made food for us, we have dinner watching the view from the dinning area on the top of Thea and I enjoy a glass of wine with lovely company and feel really at home . Julie makes fabulous smoothies in the morning and really looks after us, she's great and I find it funny when we start to have a rat problem on the boat from one of the new fishing boats that's come in and she gets busy setting traps. In one day she managed to catch four by using strangely enough pieces of apple, and they were taken off the boat. she is also a gem for looking after the dogs in the yard and I'm delighted to say that Braveheart still remembers me, she really is the cutest wee dog.Although I had a look around the shipyard for work, they're really nothing going for a couple of weeks so I plan on coming back down at that point on my way back to Malaysia. Fortunately Jamie and Julie gave me some work for a few days which was extremely kind of them, I really enjoyed the experience and once more working on Thea before heading back to Phuket. There are other friends here still, Colin whose boat is due to be launched at any point which looks fab, and Tassie Mike who has been here a few months and might actually have some work for me when I get back too. I met them both in Langkawi... it's a small world.I look forward to coming back soon, thank you Jamie and Julie for your hospitality and friendship, it really does mean so much to me, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
