Shopping and a bit of the real China....

Beijing, Beijing, China
As the story goes....when things look to perfect to be true they probably are....

We walked through some of the real China today ...in the heart of Beijing...there is where the real China lives, not the excessively wealthy, with the pristine roads, and houses, and all of the shopping centers....but the every day masses....thousands of people still living in little more than shanties, with one public bathroom every 300 metres....

There are some odd things about the shanties though....they all have air conditioning.... Amazing...there are no gutters, plumbing, some don't have windows, just cardboard covering wholes in the wall....but there on the wall is the LG air conditioner... Also the car out the front.... Usually less than 5 years old....

We spoke (I should say Ken did, I just ni hou, and nod) to a couple of people, had some egg rolls wafer, from a street market guy, he just cooked them....in the coals... Everyone is very nice still they all stare at the huge white guy.... But I am used to it now... And just say hello...

Shopping was at the pearl market...a huge version of the Vic market, but everything is a knock off.... Cheap and good...

Walk walk walk....today...we did get lost.... And saw the only remaining section of the old Ming dynasty city wall.... Sometimes it's worth getting lost :-)

Having fun...tonight the night market with the scorpion and grasshopper.... Should I try?
