Cuernavaca and Taxco

Sunday, April 05, 2015
Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal, Mexico
An all day tour is booked, and we are cordially picked up at our allotted time in the foyer of the hotel.

Off to Cuernavaca first ... The day is warming, slowly.. The nights are cool here, and it takes some time for the sun to break through....

One thing I definitely learned yesterday, is that Mexicans don't build the best roads... The trip was bumpy and rough....

Cuernavaca is a small version of Mexico City, I would liked to have stayed a little longer, but we were there only to see the zocalo (the town sqaure) and another church... 30min and were gone. This was the home to one of the revolutionaries of Mexico.

There was a market which looked facinating and the people were friendly... I would come back...

Back on the bus... The Mexican tourist we have also discovered are not punctual... The guide said 12noon to meet... He had to spend 30 min rounding up the Mexicans....

On the bus, to the windiest, bumpiest road to Taxco ... The home of silver...

We were guided into a shop which gave us the obligatory explanation of where silver comes from and the browse the silverware to purchase... Very touristy...

Lucky for us, there was another passenger on the bus from Germany, she is actual working here for the embassy, and thought to do a few tours... She was not please, by the structured approach... And wanted free time in Taxco... It was already 2:30 and were still not there... We merged forces, and set on our way from the tour... Direct to Taxco...

We jumped on a small local bus... (Combi wagon..) no door... 5 peso trip to Taxco... Luckily astrid spoke a small amount of Spanish, otherwise we could have ended up anywhere...

And we asked the locals to take us to a local restaurant... With terrace, overlooking Taxco... And amazing little village, built on the side of a hill... Many laneways and streets winding there way up the hill...

The view was amazing the lunch delicious.. And then our own shopping till 5pm... A few hours to wonder the village and the browse the silverware...

The day turned out a most excellent one...

Back in the bus at 5pm for the 5 hour trip home...

Recommend anyone to go... Stay a night, there is lots to see, and. One. Back the next day...

Our last day in Mexico tomorrow... Off to Cuba Tuesday morn..

Love to all..

How lucky to find kindred spirits to tour with. You always see much more of real life if you can do what you did!
