An early start (not that early but we are on holidays) for the foodies tour of Quebec City... we meet the guide an 16 others at a restaurant called Le chic shack.... and off we went with a sampling taste of a traditionalfrench Canadian dish called poutine... french fries, gravy and cheese curd... these days they mix it up and ours was served with a slow cooked gravy beef... was tasty...
a history tour on the founding of Quebec... the fights between the french and English... and a settlement that almost starved in the first winter here... moving on to some more delis house food...
Steak tartar and salmon tartar... hmmmaybe not my favourite..
We saw the church... there is always a church... and then into trying a traditional croissant...
I think the next stop was the best to a restaurant called boulet which focuses on using local herbs and spices... borealis cooking after aurora borealis... and introduced to sucre a la creme... wow Basically a fudge made from maple syrup but there is something about it that makes it so Yum yum yum...
Our final stop was a speak eas, now a restaurant that specialises in smoked meats... so a club sandwich in order and a glass of wine... luckily a Shiraz from, you guessed it, australia!!!
Was a good day... I just want some more sucre a la creme... don’t tell my trainer!
