Day 3 - Heading North to Salto
 
As many travellers don't apparently do the route we were taking, finding out about transport and accommodation was quite hard but we decided to catch the local bus north for 8 hours to the top of Uruguay so that we could see a snapshot of the country and head to the hot springs! So a 5am start it was and soon we were on our way . The scenery was very reminiscent of home, flat green countryside and farming land plus lots of sheep and cows, and for eight hours it didn't change!! Our expensive bus was rammed too so after 8 hours I was VERY ready to get off it!! Roll on no more local buses!!
 
Trying to find accommodation in Salto was pretty non-existent but we ended up in a nice hostel, about the only one, called Hostel Jardin which was fine. A lady at the bus station helped us re how to get to places and Ads managed to speak Spanish almost fluently to her so finally we had some idea as to what we were doing! Salto was a pleasant city, a lot less touristy than Colonia and in our entire time we didn't see one other traveller which was nice to feel off the beaten track so to speak.
 
We ended up getting the local bus to 'Termas Del Dayman' (Lynne you are famous, there are even streets named after you!), the local hot springs, which basically consisted of outdoor hot pools in a palm tree setting which was a nice day to relax and sunbathe. This travelling lark can be so hard sometimes.......
 
We then decided to cross back into Argentina by boat and after watching a beautiful sunset within the harbour looking across at Argentina, we packed ready to head back into destination 19, still with no real information on how we were then going to get north!
