Concordia, Litoral, Argentina
Day 5 - Back into Argentina again and the river city of Concordia!

We decided to take a boat across the border rather than the bus as it was cheaper and close by . The whole process was rather amusing, basically you bought your boat ticket in this silver sprayed wreck of a tin shack, then the lady in the museum stamped your passport and off you were on a local boat with a captain who didn't really look like a captain so to speak, all very funny!

15 minutes later we arrived in Argentina and after another fairly relaxed border, were then in the most battered taxi ever to get to the bus station. W must have made more noise than a tractor in this heap, the windscreen was totally smashed up and the doors only opened if you pulled on a piece of string, how the brakes worked I will never know, and it was very reminiscent of Cambodia, highly amusing! We did make it to the bus station and after finally finding out how we could get north to the Jesuit Ruins, we were at last sorted! It was 11am and our lovely 'Expresso Singer' double decker (my fav not!) night bus (which we had read horror stories about) was leaving at 11pm; it was going to be a long ole day and night!

Concordia was an ok place, very quiet with not much going on in the main square but that was probably because it was siesta time and everyone was asleep! I was surprised at some of the houses here too, as we headed a few km out walking to the local park, there were loads of quite large mansion style places, you could have easily been in Surrey! We finally reached the park and visited some old ruin, and then whilst sitting on the grass I got bitten 25 times by some biting ants so all in all it was a nice place to relax!Ummm.... We then shared a very cheesy pizza and sat in the bus station for a few hours with the locals watching the footie, bizarrely they all come to the bus station to watch the TV and spend hours here!!
