Sailing Day 2

Maslinica, Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia
Beautiful to wake up to another lovely day. Leisurely breakfast onboard and then we set sail for Maslinica on the island of Solta. This is a charming village with a very grand old palace that has been transformed into an upmarket hotel.
We enjoyed an excellent lunch at one of the small restaurants and then had a lesuirely sail to the northern side of the island of Hvar.
We found a great anchorage in Luka Tiha, just one of the many natural coves on the island. and swam in glorious crystal clear water and saw a few small interesting fish. Water temperature was refreshing but pleasant.
Fun Fact: The reason why the Mediterranean water is so clear and blue is that it is oligotrophic, which means "little, or not enough, food". Essentially, the waters of the Mediterranean don’t contain enough nutrients to support massive growth of phytoplankton (algae) which cause discolouration of the water.
