Mahasarakham, Tawi-Tawi, Thailand
The International Relations office at the university held a lovely dinner for us foreign teachers tonight. Ethnic music, good food, wine, speeches, a little passport holder gift - all very nice. It was out behind the Science building next to a fungus green pool. The mosquitoes were very bad and this is a malaria region, someone said. Fortunately, I had my new Thai silk scarf to wrap up in.

I came home to pack for our trip to Pattaya (Sin City) tomorrow only to find that we have no water . I hope there is some by morning so that I can shower. Luckily, I got some wash done last night.

Classes were nice today, my tourism class is especially fun, although I don't know if I am doing them justice. I need to add more listening practice into their lessons.

I had to wait at the office until 5:30 for the dinner, a long wait , I got so sleepy. I corrected some writing assignments and did a Thai lesson online, read the Bangkok Post, anything to keep from dozing off.

We should be getting paid soon - my first real paycheck after all this time. What will I do with all this new found wealth? $900 is a lot of money around here.

No classes tomorrow or Friday so it was a short week. It will probably be a long drive down to Pattaya, I don't know how long though. It should be a bit hotter there and they say the beach is nice. I can't wait .

Here's some pictures of the foreign teacher's dinner.
