Cannes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azu, France
Today was a day of two halves. The morning consisted of going for breakfast.... Where we ended up at Da Laura's for a cappuccino and a croissant, across the way from where we were yesterday morning. We did venture to the front, but for triple the price and the tents still up from the festival obscuring the view, it seemed a little excessive!! The guy, I think was Italian, made us personalised coffees and once he had sent a runner to the bakery, our croissants arrived too!!

The morning was spent by the pool, a little quieter today, apart from one annoying idiot, who kept flipping into the pool, drowning everyone else! Luckily that lasted for abt 20mins before he got bored!!

As the afternoon was due to get a little cloudier, we decided to head to one of the islands of Cannes that James wanted to go and see . There are 4, 2 of which are inhabited. The biggest one is very busy and popular with school and cruise trips, so we went to the smaller one ..... Iles st Honorat where there was a monastery, with still practising monks. We grabbed a sandwich (which I insisted on dropping on the floor, as the packet collapsed when I pulled it from the bag!!!) and a cold drink and went to find somewhere in the shade to have a sit. It was beautiful and looked out into clear blue waters. The island is run as a vineyard, but has odd ancient buildings on it, such as a cannonball furnace and odd little chapels. As well as the monastery, there was also a fort which looked like it should be in Sharpe! After a lot of exploring up stairs, and through windows, we walked back to get out boat home.

We were so warm, once we reached the port side, we stopped for a glass of wine and a cold Diet Coke, watching the rich/trying to be rich wandering by.

We went for a dip in our rooftop pool, until the sun began to wain and got ready to go out for dinner. It was a lovely restaurant on the corner of a busy eating block. There was a man with a guitar and one with an accordion serenading the tourists, asking for money at the end! James grabbed some change for his beret, although we are not sure how much he gave them!! Dinner was interesting, my pork belly was not what I expected and was much more suited to a cold winters day, but James cuttlefish was well suited for the day.

Tomorrow the plan is to catch the train to Monaco!
