Marla, South Australia, Australia
Day 13 – Suddenly…nothing happened!

We left Uluru, well Yulara, around 9.20am, hitting the road aiming for the buzzing metropolis of Marla in South Oz. I drove the first hour or so to Curtin Springs and asked G to take over as the tablet I'd taken for my dodgy neck had made me a tad drowsy. Needless to say I dozed a while afterwards, waking myself up snoring with about 20km to go to lunch at Erldunda. Just so you know, we aren’t the only ones in awe of the fuel prices, we spied some people taking photos of the bowsers!

Well, from that point on the only interesting thing that happened was GG slept and I again took the lead in the fuel conservation stakes with a dizzying effort (if I do say so myself!) of 11.9 L per 100km!

The rest of the drive was as boring as bat shit.

We arrived at Marla around 4pm and secured one of the last powered sites. It is quite a complex at Marla. There’s a fuel station, a restaurant, a bar, a bistro, an aboriginal art gallery, a motel and a vanpark in the one complex, quite a sizeable investment all told. I toyed with the idea of a swim in the pool but when G tested the water it was a tad freezing!

G once again cooked up a concoction from a can and I had some genuine frontier greasy from the bistro, something I am rather regretting as I write this!

No piccies today...

Tomorrow we get to experience Coober Pedy, am looking forward to it!
