New York City, New York, United States
First day in New York and it was a beautiful day, so we decided to go for a walk in Central Park and see how far we could get. Took our time getting out and had a nice travel conversation with a young couple from England, James & Sophie who are in the other bedroom at the other end of the art gallery we're staying in. This is a great air BnB place for us as it also has 2 bathrooms, so each bedroom has its own bathroom and it is just at the edge of the theatre district.Central Park is a classic city park and very big. We wandered around tourist attractions at the south end before stopping for lunch at a cafe in the park, just after this we came across an amazing group of singers doing gospel and popular songs, we even bought their CD.

Then made our way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art which is admission by donation, but they post recommended donations of $25 for adults . As we were only going to stay for a relatively short time we thought we would donate $20 each and they were fine with that. A guard told us you can donate whatever you wish.We decided to just visit the European art and we quickly walked through the earlier art work and concentrated on the 1800s and early 1900s, then had a quick walk through the Ancient Egyptian section, which featured an actual temple, the Temple of Dendur, that was gifted to the USA by Egypt for their contribution in helping save antiquities when the Aswan Dam was built. This was housed in a very large room with a whole side in glass for natural lighting. We then walked over to the John Lennon memorial in Central Park, Strawberry Hills, before heading home to get changed for our second musical, Aladdin.

We stopped at a different food court for a quick dinner but this time, it was pretty awful and expensive for what it was but the show was great, much better than what we expected, lots of energy and big production numbers. The genie was played by a big African American guy who stole the show with his delivery an athleticism. When the show ended we visited Times Square and a more lively place in the world I doubt you would find. Interesting just watching all the different things going on and of course all the neon signs
