Getting Ready for Spring

March 16-18 was a colder weekend than we would have liked, but we got several things done! We hung pictures throughout and Donna finished making up the port forward berth and placed new king-sized pillows in the port aft berth as a finishing touch.

We moved the spare parts storage containers temporarily to the starboard sail locker, since the original containers would not fit through the cutouts that would allow storage under the galley settee . We will need to find smaller containers to fit there. Dave inflated the dinghy fully and installed the outboard motor which we returned from having been in storage at home. He drained the sail bag, installed the teak bow seats that he had refinished, and reinstalled the bimini.

At home last weekend we had cleaned and re-waterproofed the bimini so it will be interesting to see how it holds up to a good rainfall. Dave laid out the spinnaker sheets for use. He ran both diesels and enabled the seawater foot pump at the galley. Friends David H. and Paul helped with the installation of the replacement hatch lift handle in the cockpit--those guys are such engineers!

As for more odds and ends, it appears that our electric blanket quit working this weekend.  Dave loaded waypoints in the GPS. We installed our four new fire extinguishers. We also began to assemble our party supplies for the Christening March 31. Dave borrowed a buffer for preparing the bows for new lettering but it was too cold to use this weekend. We would just have to get it done next weekend!
