The Start of a Labor Day Sailing Vacation

Occohannock Creek, Virginia, United States
We installed the new topping lift and main halyard yesterday. Donna had to hoist Dave on the new topping lift to the masthead in order to secure the end of the new halyard, which uses a 2:1 purchase.

Today we began a long sailing vacation that would continue through Labor Day . At 0824 hours we departed Willoughby Harbor and headed across the Bay for the town of Onancock on Virginia's Eastern Shore. With light SW winds 5-10 kt on the spinnaker we would not be able to make our destination so we decided to aim for Occohannock Creek where we anchored for the night in this nice, quiet creek.

Enroute under spinnaker and double-reef main we were approached and circled by a helicopter with lettering BOATPIX.COM. We figured they were out to capture some photos, and sure enough that led us to the purchase of the "photo shoot" quality photograph you see on our TravelPod profile. The fee wasn't cheap, but we figured--when else would we have an opportunity to have an aerial view of our boat under sail?!!
