Sail to Sarah Creek off the York River

Tuesday, September 02, 2008
Sarah Creek York River, Virginia, United States
We departed Rudee Inlet at 0710 hours. The day was mostly sunny, dry, with a good NW-N wind blowing 10-15 kts. We enjoyed a very nice sail upwind on the main and jib thru the north channel back into the Bay. We motored the last portion of our journey after the wind died. Late in the game, an East wind filled in ~10 kts and we could have hoisted the spinnaker but didn't due to the short remaining distance we had to cover. We caught numerous small blues and one nice Spanish Mackerel approximately 24 inches in length--our first real, edible fish. We fileted him and cooked him on the grill after anchoring at 1635 hours...yum!
