An Early Return to Avoid Tropical Storm Hannah

Cockrell's Marine Railway, Virginia, United States
We got an early start this morning departing Carter Creek at 0700 hours to get back to the dock to prepare for tropical storm Hannah's winds that would be impacting the Chesapeake Bay. The day began with a light SE wind so we motor sailed with the main to near Windmill Point. When the East wind picked up to 10 kts we were able to roll out the jib as well and sail without engines. We arrived at the marina at 1248 hours and spent all afternoon tying up with extra lines in anticipation of high winds.
