Sail to Canoe Neck Creek, St Clements Bay MD

St Clements Bay, Maryland, United States
It was hard to get out of our slip today due to a strong NE wind pushing us across the slip. Fortunately we made it without hitting anything and were on our way at 1110 hours. We raised the main sail in the river based on expecting the NE wind to be right down the jetties and expecting little traffic. Correct on both scores but it was very hairy in the cut and rough outside in the shallows until we could bear away.

The day was party sunny and cool, with NE winds 15-20 and gusts to 25 . It made for a fast (but cool) sail on main and jib up the Potomac, 9-10 kts SOG with frequent bursts to 10+ kts. The river current was also helping to move us along. We outran a tug and barge leaving Piney Point.

We set anchor at our destination in Canoe Neck Creek off St Clements Bay at 1610 hours. This is a very nice area to explore further. We're glad we came.
