Smith Creek, Maryland, United States
We were due back at Cockrell's today but we ran into significant weather on this mostly cloudy and cool day. Once we entered the Potomac from Breton Bay for the crossing toward Virginia we were moving very fast and comfortably on a broad reach with 15-20 kts of wind from the NE on a 1st reef main and jib. The wind increased to 20-30 with some higher gusts and we got spun out. We furled the jib, dropped the main, and brought out a reefed jib. Some daggerboard helped control in high wind on the aft quarter.

Instead of going all the way back to Cockrell's, we decided to exit the Potomac at Smith Creek to avoid entering the hazardous in bad weather Smith Point jetties .  We were anchored by 1107 in a little hurricane hole of a cove on Smith Creek, home to an American Bald Eagle and blue heron which we enjoyed watching over the course of the day. Dave had to phone work to let them know he would not be there tomorrow and also cancelled a scheduled eye appointment for Monday.
