Dave connected the steering gear to the new rudders today. Due to the small difference in the placement of the blade on the rudder stock, he had come prepared with some spacers he had fabricated from pieces of an old oak dining room chair. The delrin material he had ordered for this contingency hadn't yet arrived so he scrounged around for something of the right thickness and the oak chair pieces were the only ones that were close enough and of good enough material. He'll eventually replace the oak with the delrin.
We have not yet sailed or motored the boat to see what detectable difference the new rudders make, if any . We plan to move it to Annapolis next week without a main sail for rigging and electronics work and to install a new main. Even when we can sail it for a fair comparison, it will be with a new main so any differences due to the new rudders may be masked.
Dave also installed the VHF remote microphone charger cradle on the helm and connected it to existing DC power. He reinstalled the compass and applied silicone sealant around the autopilot control head, windlass control, B&G display red button and the cradle for the remote microphone. He ran the engines and transmissions to confirm an okay startup as we readied for moving the boat to Annapolis at the end of the month. The Chesapeake Rigging representative visited to climb the mast for some additional measurements in anticipation of our project work at Annapolis. Dave also spoke by phone with the representative of the electronics firm to discuss the status of the electronics project scheduled for the same timeframe at Annapolis.   
Donna cleaned the refrigerator for the start of the new season.
