Final Preparations for Transit to Annapolis

Vera's White Sands Beach Club and Marina, Maryland, United States
Our main reason for going to the boat today was to meet with the new project coordinator for our electronics upgrade project to be performed after our arrival in Annapolis on March 30. The representative from Electronics Marine brought the Nav Pod housing in which the starboard helm chart plotter would be mounted to brainstorm mounting positions. After we arrive in Annapolis and finalize a mounting scheme, a custom metal fabricator will make stainless mounts for the Nav Pod. We also discussed various details of the overall electronics equipment installation, which will include the new Furuno radar.

Dave also found time to begin repairing the minor fiberglass damage on the helm pedestal that resulted from removing the old housing for the auto pilot. This needs to be completed before the Nav Pod with the new chart plotter can be mounted in the same general location.

In preparation for the transit to Annapolis, Dave reinstalled the main sheets even though we won't have a mainsail to use. This is because the mainsheets and topping lift serve as a backstay for the mast when sailing with only a foresail or spinnaker. He also installed the spinnaker sheets to be available if we choose to use the spinnaker during transit.
