On May 9, 2010, we hosted a group of members of the College of William & Mary Choir for a day sail on the Chesapeake Bay. Dave's son Erek attended W&M and was active in the student choir. Dave had an open invitation to Erek to invite some school friends for a sail and he finally took him up on it – in a big way! Erek would graduate from W&M the following weekend.

April 9 arrived cool and breezy – and the group of 18 students arrived at the marina on schedule . We provided some food and drinks and the students brought some of their own. We departed the marina at 1100 after a "safety briefing" by Capt. Dave. Due to the wind conditions, NW 10-20 kts, Dave planned a course to sail north up the west shore of the Bay and reversing course back to Willoughby in the late afternoon.

The conditions provided the students with a cool and sometimes wet experience and they seemed to have a terrific time. We would have liked it to be about 10 degrees or more warmer, but we enjoyed it very much and all considered it to be a successful and fun Day on the Bay.
