The Late Great O'Hare International Airport

This, the last thing, is the first late thing.

American Airlines flight 4349 from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Kansas City is late. Scheduled for 1:45, it is pushed back to 2:15, then 2:40 and then 3:05 and then 3:20 and then 3:40.

O’Hare is an old airport but they keep tweaking it to make it seem less so. How about a Chicago-style deep dish Uno’s Pizza? OK, they’ve got that. How about a glass of wine while enjoying live piano music? OK, they’ve got that. If you want to shop at a Brooks Brother’s Store, you can. Want Macaroni Grill Italian? It’s right here.

Being in this “old” airport, I can see why people in Kansas City don’t want to change our “perfect” airport? No, you cannot get a local pizza or a glass of wine at a piano bar or buy a fashionable tie or sit down to a nice meal. But, who cares? You can drive to the gate. Are we so walking
averse that we want to sacrifice all the rest of what an airport during a flight delay can be? YES! Don’t change a thing! Change is BAD.

I suppose from that rant you can tell which side of the Kansas City Airport argument I am on, huh?

You should have stayed overnight! You could have stayed with me - (us now) and we could have caught up! Hope you made it to KC safe and sound! More snow to come here in the Windy City...
