Catch as Catch Can

Ketchikan, Alaska, United States
Sprint is a poor choice of mobile phone carriers for travelers.

I got a fine signal in Anchorage, no signal in Skagway, a good signal in Juneau, nothing in Hoonah and, today, nothing in Ketchikan . Now, Ketchikan is a big place. There are tourists everywhere happily checking their emails and talking to the folks back home. Me? Nothing. I've got to switch.

It is cloudy, again. I am up early and on the deck for five miles as we dock. There is the Island Princess, and another Royal Caribbean ship already here.

There are lots of diamond shops and whale bone carvings and, well, nothing that I want. I find a saloon, The Red Snapper Bar & Lounge and belly up to the bar to use their WiFi to file blog entries. I have lots of email as well. I've got to change mobile carriers. Period.

I plan to do mostly nothing while I am here but I will look around and see if anything tempts me.

Nothing did. The rain didn't help. It's a day for relaxing and that is about all I did.
