Sienna & San Gimmy Domino

Florence, Tuscany, Italy
Today's driver, Mateo II, was interest, and not in a good way; close talker, looks at me more than the road and a political science major. Kinda reminds me of Chandler from Friends, but not as cute. Anyways, he takes us to Sienna and shows us the Piazza del Campo where the  Palio di Siena , a horse race, takes place. Check it out on youtube. Amazing!

After a quick stop at a pastry shop for yummy almond things, we walk to Siena's cathedral . Chandler can't go in so we go alone. Its bee two hours with him and we are glad for the break. While inside we decide we need to get out of Siena. The old section is nice enough but we are definitly getting tired of the cityscapes. After the Cathedral, we decide lunch is in order, so we go back to Monteriggioni. Now that the town is awake its really lovely! Just as we pull up, the skies start to open. Mateo II hold an Umbrella over me and guides us to an oudoor cafe. Ok, its covered but now its pouring. This was his redeaming grace. This place had food from the Gods! I could have been sitting in a field, on a rock with just an umbrella and it would have been worth it! That Good! www.ilpozzo.net  By the time we're done eating, the rain has stopped and it has become a beautiful day. Again, I'd like to spend a little more time here; not a lot but some.

Up Next is San San Gimignano, or as the rest of my crew called it San Jimmy Domino. Ugly Americans! After such a nice lunch without the clutz, we had to deal with him some more . That is until we decide we want to go to the torture museum. He can't go into private museums so that's where we want to be. After convincing him I can find my why back to the van(one street - how could anyone get lost?) we head off to the torture museum on our own. We do the museum and head to do the bell tower, but get distracted by Gelato. Walk or climb stairs? Hmmmm...EAT!

The drive back weaves through the counrtyside and is very pretty. As its our lst night in Florence, we have him drop us off at the Ponte vechio so we can finish our shopping on the way back to the hotel. We have to go back to the Trattoria by our place again because the food was that good. Paige's Origami is still there and she touched so she make them another one for the registar. Of course, we skip desert this time in favor of Gelato on our walk back to the hotel.
