It's so good to be back on the road again

Wissant, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
We were up and off from Nottingham this morning having so much to achieve before we're on the tunnel. We were in Nottingham catching up with Helena, Steve and Iwan, look at the fun we had on Sunday in the park!! The two girls are Poppy and Ellie the children of Mark and Vicky our Cambridge friends.

Anyway back to Monday the day we’re due on the Channel Tunnel by 1500hrs, plenty of time you think . Well we set off from Nottingham at 7.30am to go to Coventry to pick up prescriptions, collect our new bikes, stock up with fresh food and fill the lpg tank.   Having done all of that we left Coventry at 11.30am to arrive at Folkestone 14.50hrs, well I suppose 10 mins to spare is better than the 2 mins we’ve had the last twice we’ve caught the tunnel.

Once in Calais we pop to Cite Europe for the French shopping we need and travel just 15km to Wissant, our Aire for the night. As it wasn’t raining and there was still about an hour of daylight when we arrived, we had a quick march around the town and down to the beach. We were very surprised to find an exceptionally nice little town and beach, which in the summer we’re sure will be heaving.

We used this aire in November when returning from Italy and there was about 5 vans but today there was about 30 vans in a place for 30 vans!!
