Cliff Walking in Luz back to Lagos

Espiche, Algarve, Portugal
After a nice quiet night at our Aire we made our way to Luz as planned. Fortunately we decided to have a recce of the area before we parked up at the campsite as the campsite was supposed to be 2km from Luz but that must be as the crow flies and definitely doesn't take into account the hills. We slightly changed our plan and parked up in Luz then walked along the cliffs back to Lagos then returned in time for a late lunch. We found a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea with a 3 course lunch set menu and we both thought our food was excellent and thoroughly deserved.

We then moved to the campsite as we both desperately needed good showers and to wash our sweat soaked clothes . Although the campsite is very expensive for Portugal (€17 per night) it is the poshest we’ve ever been to, so it was worth the money and we even got a couple of hours in the sun. The sun was rudely interrupted at one point for 5 mins by a passing swarm of bees.

Dinner in the restaurant was 5 course with Fado, thank goodness we’d already eaten at lunch, one experience of Fado was enough for us.
