Sports Stadium Aire Sintra

Having been warned about driving in Sintra we decided to park on the edge at a sports stadium for €5 for 24 hours . On walking into Sintra about 500m from our parking there was actually free parking near some walls. Sintra Vilha the main tourist area is still a 2km hilly walk from there with no paths, but you really can't take your motorhome any closer, as the roads and traffic are horrific.

Once in Sintra Vilha Mark chose the Palace he wanted to see and of course it was at the top of a 2km mountain hike and the weather today was really hot (26 degrees at 9.30am!!).

The walk was lovely but really hard due to the heat and the castle and palace are both really picturesque. If you are feeling a little weary there are plenty of buses, taxis, tuk tuks etc to get you up there without the effort we put in, so you don’t need to miss out!!

We had a nice lunch out, Penny tried the baked cod fish which we actually both liked, Mark stuck with Pork but note to self don’t order anything like that again there’s just way too much garlic in it!

As we put lots of effort in walking today, about 10km and none of it flat, we rewarded ourselves with nice icecreams on the way back.

Ooh ooh what an extra treat, you may remember Mark likes tourist trains, well the one in Sintra really wasn’t worth the money, but on opening our bedroom blinds this morning the first thing Mark saw was the tourist train parked up with us!!
