Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal
Well Fatima didn't take us long to look round, it was very religious and there were lots of people praying and doing penance which made us as tourists feel a little bit out of place, so we had a quick look round and moved on.

Conimbriga was our next stop as our guidebook said there were some sprawling Roman ruins . Apparently there was a strike on today so we couldn’t pay to go in the museum but we could go into the ruins for free. That was a result as really that’s all we wanted to do and it was definitely a worthwhile stop for a couple of hours.

Coimbra campsite was our next stop and boring cleaning for the rest of the day, one bonus though the view was pretty good!!

Why oh why are all the towns we visit on a hill, or at least everything Mark wants to see is at the top of a bloody hill. Shall we catch the bus to town, no we’ve got legs so let’s walk, great then when we get to town there’s millions of steps to get to the Univeristy which is the feature of the town.

Coimbra is actually a nice town to meander through the alleyways looking at the shops and exclaiming at the churches you happen across. We spent a nice few hours meandering after scaling the heights.

Given it’s Easter, lots of stuff is closed and we’ve seen so much stuff in the last few days we’ve decided to set up camp for 3 nights, chill out, have bbqs and sunbathe after going to the camp gym!!

The bbq of steak, mushrooms and onions with new potatoes and salad this evening was one of the best meals we’ve had all holiday, let’s hope tomorrows bbq is as good!!

Well we tried to go to the gym this morning but because it was Easter Sunday, it was shut too. Instead we got our new bikes off the back of the van and had a ride around the campsite and no they’re not any easier than the last ones.

We had a lovely bbq for lunch and sat in the very hot sun for the afternoon.

Now we’re feeling nice and refreshed after our mini break and ready for more sights tomorrow.
