Penny has a new occupation, chief assistant at the local
launderette in Lubeck, she thinks it’s because she was the only woman in the
place and of course all women can work all washing machines and speak to blokes
in whatever language they choose!!
Laundry done and van cleaned it was time to fill up with
shopping, diesel and lpg before moving on to Denmark.
It was a 4 hour drive to
Ribe to meet up with our tour group and the weather was atrocious, rain and
really strong winds all the way. We just kept thinking that it was better the
wind today than Saturday when we go on the ferry.
The wind carried on all night and we didn’t get much sleep
at all.
After such a rough night it was a real surprise to wake up
to a beautiful looking morning. We all made the most of it and set off to
investigate Ribe early, which was good as by lunch it was looking really dodgy
and by 2pm chucking it down again.
Regardless Ribe is a beautiful town, so much history, real
character and very friendly people. The Viking centre in town wasn’t brilliant
but we realised we should have gone to the one 3km out of town, the weather
decided otherwise though so we had to miss that one.
We had our first group meal this evening at a retreat next
to the campsite. It was very nice indeed and the weather dried up so we could
go into town afterwards to tour with the night watch man, which was brilliant.
