Our final day in the Faroes, so yet again we were up and
out. Instead of going through the tunnels back to the Capital, Torshvan, we
decided to go across the mountains and the scenery was beautiful. We then went
through the capital to the village of Kirkjouber to look at the old cathedral,
church and oldest turf farmhouses of the Island. This village was beautiful, so
we had our morning coffee there overlooking the sea before moving on. Back to
Torshvan for a look round the ‘city’, which took all of 10 mins, but we did
have a beautiful lunch on the harbourside too. Penny had chicken and peach soup
and said it was the best soup she’d ever tasted and then we both had pancakes
to follow with Rhubarb jam and cream. Rhubarb and lamb seem to be the staple
diets of the Faroese.
Final stop was the National museum, which housed quite a lot
of the treasures from some of the places we’ve visited over the last few days.
All of that finished before 4pm, which is when we had to be
at the ferry to move on to Iceland.
