Hofn - glacier lagoon, beach and lobster soup

Höfn, Iceland
Today for Penny was the highlight of her travels so far. We had booked a trip on a dinghy into a glacier lagoon for the afternoon but we set off early so we could go beyond this to another lagoon and a black beach. It was the black sand beach walking among icebergs broken off the glacier that very day which Penny thought was brilliant. We have some pictures (hundreds) which show the wonder but you just can’t capture the feeling when you are there.
After the boat ride (it was good but nothing extra special) we returned past the beach and lagoon we’d visited 4 hours previous and the change was enormous, so much so that we stopped for pictures and to be awed yet again.
Rain, rain and rain, should we go get wet or stay in. Fortunately the rain abated so out we went to explore the town, along with about half the rest of our colleagues. We had a treat and ate lunch out at Pakkhus right on the harbour. The town is famed for its lobster so Penny tried the soup with flatbread and Mark stuck to cod and chips and it was all very nice. We also had a beer each, Mark the Viking Classic which is a local ale and Penny a Local white beer served with a slice of orange again both of which were very nice.
Our afternoon walk along the coastline was cut a little short due to more rain but at least we got out for a stretch and in general had a relaxing day. The agenda for tomorrow could be quite hectic so relaxing was good.
