Sorry for the technical difficulties- no pictures from the last blog of the Kairos Carpenter and I think I ran out of space to sing praises of the group here last week- but they did get some pictures. I am writing this on my new toy- it's an I-Pad wanna be. My last laptop got drunk and died when the bottle of Koinonia-made blueberry wine popped it's cork on my passenger seat and drowned it. I guess it went out happy at least. For a replacement, I thought that I would upgrade to an I Pad. I did and I tried for a week or so to get the pictures to go from the digital camera to the I Pad to my blog to facebook and internet but was unable. The geek squad guy at Best Buy also was unable- evidently, it doesnt support flash (whatever that means), so I turned it back in and got this one-an Iconia. Similar features to the I Pad but I can get the pictures to the blog. It's tough not having any of my kids around to ask- 'Hey Bob- how do I do such and such? and he goes click, click and it's done. I'm getting better, though.
So, anyway, last week we hosted a group from California who helped us to black-in house number three . Caroline has led 7 mission trips and this was their first visit to Tuscaloosa. Their group was from the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Doug and Sylvia came with one aof their sons, Mike and father and son became siding specialists and pretty much finished the siding on the house. Caroline helped to herd the Americorp cats on the hot roof and they got all the roof sheathing, black paper and purlins (horizontal 1 x 4's every 2 feet) ready for metal roofing which will be delivered and installed by this weeks volunteers. Where's Glen, you ask? Inside joke, but mostly he helped ou over at Teddys with trim and paint. Frank with the island from Georgia and Ken the retired fireman installed all of the soffit, fascia and trim, including the gingerbread on the front gable. This group also initiated, what I thought, was awonderful new tradition called invite Peter out to dinner with them.
And a good'time was had by all. See you next week- battery,s blinking at me. Peter
