Small group week at Jessie Hill's

Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States
We hosted a small group of vounteers from Pennsylvania here this past week. Bob Curran and Jan, Rob, Bradley and Wes have been on previous mission trips to New Orleans and the like and generally had groups of up to forty or so in their party. Their trip to Tuscaloosa was a bit of a fact finding trip and we hope that had a good experience and saw the tremendous need here and I hope to see them again soon. for the first three days of the week, we finished up the outside of Jessie Hill's home-   hardi siding, soffit and (we're gettin good at it-) metal roof. Thursday and Friday I was scheduled to work out at Y's Acres to install the electric and water lines out to make our RV hookup station. I rented a trencher from Sunbelt and what a cool piece of machinery is that. It's got a conveyor-like device on the front with teeth that dig a 4" wide trench up to 18" deep. We ran about 70' out to the big field and set a 6 x 6 post at the end. Then ran the 3/4" pex from the bathhouse and also go the Lion's Den tied in at the same time. Tested the lines- not a drip, and then covered it up. Rob from the Pa. group also helped me hook up the hot water heater and the kitchen sink at the Lion's Den. There's something very satisfying about hooking up plumbing lines and devices, turning the water back on and- hold your breath- NO LEAKS!
Tonight (Sunday) the two RVers arrived from Ohio and -oops- something wasn't quite right with the electric (30 Amp) hookups .   Sam, our electrician, tested the lines and said they were good on Thursday, but evidently there is too much power coming through so that the RV's surge protectors are kicking in. Called Sam on Sunday, but only voice mail. We'll have him check it out on Monday. In the mean time, they both have extension cords run from the Lion's Den and they say that will hold them for the night. We also received a group of 8 or so who came in from New Jersey today and will be here with us for the week. And finally, AM Gulas from Northern Virginia is back with us for the week.

Peter,
Too bad the TIGERS could not have played one more minute last night. Congratulations from the Simple Church to all of our friends in Alabama.
