Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
The check-in procedure was quick and painless after a short taxi ride to the cruise terminal. (Marge) I second the check in process was great hardly any waiting. Again we had to share seats with some of our bags. The fare as an informational point was $10 Canadian from the upper old town. We were in and through check-in in less than a half hour which was great. Our room was wonderful even if we were not quite sure where everything would go. But that was for later when we got our bags, for now we enjoyed a few minutes in our room and checking out the balcony before heading to lunch on the Lido deck. I will tell more about the room and ship on a quiet day where we are not doing much.

As for the rest of the day we went into the lower town of Quebec checking out the Street Saint Paul, Palace Royale area and Champlain street area . It was a wonderful 3-4 hours for all of us as we just walked checked out shops and got a few souvenirs of Quebec. The area is really lovely and although the Champlain area was crowded it was still great. The buildings were all restored with loving care and it really had a very European feel to it all. We had a hot chocolate and cappuccino at a caf sitting on the street watching people and just taking it easy.

We all were really glad we just took the time to walk slowly and enjoy the area. We also all agreed we could easily spend more time in Quebec. It definitely has a old time feel even with the crowds of tourists from the three cruise ships in port when we were there. I guess I just kind of look past the people and just enjoy when I am in a place like this that invokes so much history just as I did in Prague which was also very crowded at times.

One interesting point of the day was the waiter at the caf we stopped at while we were there talked at least four different languages while we rested. He spoke French, English, German and Japanese/Chinese at least with various tourists. He seemed quite comfortable with them all and I am sure enjoyed having their own language spoken.

The day ended with a visit to the spa, reading in the Explorer's lounge listening to classical strings and going to the introductory show.
